CEDARS (Again) Is it really about religious beliefs?
by Listener injohn cedars has posted his latest blog "the trouble with apostates (and why it shouldn't put you off becoming one)".
i acknowledge that he is entitled to his opionin just as we are ours but i am disappointed in some of his comments.. at this stage i'll try to be objective about it.
he is defending his own position after all.. what bothers me most is his comments about athiests and christians which he seems to identify as being in conflict with each other.

In my opinion, that was the worst that Cedars has ever written (that I know of). It was long, rambling, peevish, unnecessary. I am still baffled by what motivated Cedars to write a piece concerning Mike and Kim ... pleeease. -

Changes and why
by Formerbrother inso far these are all the recent changes i know of, please add more if i have missed anything.. 1. all construction projects have either been stopped or reduced.. 2. all bethels are downsizing by at least 20% within one year of the announcement, and almost certainly more in years to come.. 3. remaining belelites will have to make their own food, do their own washing and cleaning.. no more laundry department, no more kitchen and waiters, no more housekeeping!.
and you still only get 80 per month, but no rent or bills, and food will be provided in the family fridge but you have to prepare it yourself.. as to why, it has been said several times officially its not because of a lack of funds, but how could that possibly be the truth?.

What is the alternative to JW?
by Formerbrother ini mean this with all due respect, i would like to hear from genuine people who think jw have it wrong and then what is the truth?.
im not talking about silly little quibbles here and there.. is jehovah real?
the the bible is word?

...have it wrong and then what is the truth?
Right there, you start with the wrong question. You assume that there is this big thing called truth...universal truth perhaps. As Obama said "that's above my pay grade". Concern yourself with little pieces of truth such as:
- Was 1914 a biblical prophetic year? or
- Is the overlapping generation an accurate interpretation of Mathew 24:34?, etc. etc
Regarding your question about JW's being "nearest to the truth" (assuming that we can create an objective standard to compare the different little pieces of "truths"), many good books and threads have been written to help you get a good answer. As for my own answer... I should be respectful to all views, but after learning TTATT, mockery is the most spontaneous response to that question. I don't think you know TTATT yet

Samuel Herd's Gunter Schabowski moment
by Gorbatchov inthe samuel herd broadcasting about the layoff of fulltime wts employees, made me think about the gunter schabowski press conference in november 1989.. the correlations:.
- samuel and gunter read their message from paper.
uninterested, not enough informed.

Gorby,
Agree with your conclusion.
Slim,
Time will tell. But I doubt there are better days ahead, even in the distant future.

Prologos,
do you think I am revealing my identity when I say that I am from the U.S. Try asking more than 300,000,000 people who are willing to tell the truth and you will find me.

Feeling rejected
by Esmeralda001 injust a little disclaimer: english isn't my first language (i'm from france) thus the poor writing skills.here is the situation: i'm not a jw.
however, i'm in the process of becoming one.
in fact, i'm studying with the jw's, and i'll proceed to become an unbaptized publisher as soon as i finish the first book.to make a long story short i was introduced to the truth when i was 18een.

As previously advised, do a lot of research. Becoming a JW is a huge commitment that can have lifetime negative consequences, or positive if you happily and unquestioningly are willing to follow human orders and decrees that are designed to control every aspect of your life. -

Catholicism is better if you want greater freedom. It's worse if you, as I do, dislike all the rituals.
It seems that you still believe the Bible is the word of God. At this point you are better off practicing Christianity away from organized religion. The most common path out of JW's religion is atheism or agnosticism. Try it. It offer the best answers, that is, if you are a critical thinker.

Give him the benefit of the doubt. He may not mean anything other than he wants to give something to the baby. He may be like many of us, clumsy at gift giving.
